Sealed road provides 2WD access along State Route 81 – Cairns to Bloomfield, and State Route 40 – Cooktown to Bloomfield. If travelling along the Captain Cook Highway/State Route 44, sealed road provides 2WD access as far as Cape Tribulation. North of Cape Tribulation, the Bloomfield Track is an unsealed gravel 4WD road. Conditions on the Bloomfield Track vary significantly by season; the road is frequently closed or restricted during the wet season (typically November to April). Always check current road conditions with Douglas Shire Council before travel. Air access is also available from Cairns.
The Daintree Coast has a climate entirely its own. Learning to read it – the weight of the wet season air, the clarity that follows a tropical downpour, the dry season light that turns everything gold – is part of understanding this place.
— Wet Season (December – April): Most of the annual rainfall falls in these months due to tropical monsoon influences, with February often among the wettest. Please note the lodge has a seasonal closure from 1 February to 15 March yearly.
— Dry Season (May – November): Markedly drier with far fewer rain days.
Humidity mirrors the rainfall pattern, with higher humidity in the wet season and lower, more comfortable humidity in the dry season.
Swimming is not advised from the beaches near the lodge. Crocodiles inhabit estuaries and some beaches in this region. Guests will have the opportunity to swim off the coast within the Great Barrier Reef system near the lodge, accompanied by our team of expert guides.
Ever Bloomfield is situated on the Country of the Eastern Kuku Yalanji and Kuku Nyungkal peoples. Signature cultural experiences include a visit to the sacred Wujal Wujal Falls and the Quinkan Rock Art Heli Safari, which visits ancient rock art sites in the Laura region. These experiences are designed in partnership with Traditional Owners and are central to what makes Ever Bloomfield unique.
